About Juu Afrika

Empowering African children through innovative education that celebrates culture while building futures

About JUU Afrika

JUU Afrika is a registered Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) under NGO Act No. 24 of 2002 (RE 2005), with registration No. 00NGO/R/3465, established on 14 July 2022. We are a membership-based, non-religious, and non-partisan organisation dedicated to transforming education and society in Tanzania and across Africa.

At JUU Afrika, we believe that every child has the right to rise above barriers of ignorance, poverty and injustice, and thrive. Our philosophy is grounded in the meaning of "JUU"—to rise above challenges and limitations. Rooted in Swahili, JUU is both a call to action and an ethic of care: Jilinde (protect yourself), Ulinde (protect others), and Ulindwe (be protected). This philosophy extends beyond protection from violence and abuse to include safeguarding against ignorance, disease, poverty, and injustice. The philosophy recognises children not only as learners but also as rights holders and change-makers.

When children are safe, valued, educated and supported by families, communities, and institutions, in ways that reflect both local realities and global standards, they can rise above barriers, inspire change, and shape a just, inclusive, and sustainable future.
