About JUU Afrika

A call to rise above.

We are a Tanzanian, membership-based NGO transforming education and society through creativity, evidence and an ethic of care.

JUU
Who we are

Rooted in Tanzania.
Open to Africa.

JUU Afrika is a registered Non-Governmental Organisation under NGO Act No. 24 of 2002 (RE 2005), with registration No. 00NGO/R/3465, established on 14 July 2022. We are a membership-based, non-religious and non-partisan organisation dedicated to transforming education and society in Tanzania and across Africa.

We believe every child has the right to rise above barriers of ignorance, poverty and injustice - and thrive. Our philosophy is grounded in the meaning of JUU: to rise above challenges and limitations. Rooted in Swahili, JUU is both a call to action and an ethic of care: Jilinde (protect yourself), Ulinde (protect others) and Ulindwe (be protected). This philosophy extends beyond protection from violence and abuse to safeguarding against ignorance, disease, poverty and injustice.

When children are safe, valued, educated and supported by families, communities and institutions - in ways that reflect both local realities and global standards - they can rise above barriers, inspire change and shape a just, inclusive and sustainable future.
